psissy This tune is a real songwriter at work & play- I don’t don’t know this gal, but I can see her clear as day when I listen… Favorite track: Five Foot Four From Fort Worth.

There's no bonus tracks or outtakes as of yet- We had other song we might have recorded but we mined the unrecorded tunes that fit the instrumentation best -essentially returning to the sound characterized in our first record form 2009. HD moved from our long time home of Paonia, Colorado (located on the western slope of the great divide) to Bend, OR late summer 2014. We'd just released our second album that year and now 6 years later we're finally eeking out this new album-- I'll just say that it took us a while to get a foot hold here in Bend and we had to focus more on paying bills and keeping a roof over our heads - otherwise this most of this bunch of tunes have been kicking around since our 2014 release. Much of the material is referencing our home of many years Colorado. The only song included here that Bill has written since living in Oregon is "Five Foot Four From Fort Worth". Of course the new tunes are always the favs and this is true of this tune- we feel it's a stand out tune on the record but we wouldn't have recorded these songs if we didn't love them too! While the album's songs have good roots in Colorado the sound of the band is very much tied to our new home in Bend Oregon. We met Don Hawkins(snare) and Benji Nagel (Dobro) and CJ Neary very soon after landing in Bend. We've played with several different folks who have all become friends and associates but the main folks that we've had rounding out the band have been there since very soon after we arrived in Bend- physically and metaphorically. CJ was 9 years old the first time he sat in with us! Now he's saving to buy a car! For several years CJ would just sit in now and then - the band was Shell, Bill, Donny and Benji but in the past couple of years CJ has stepped up more and Benji back a little- all in all though, this has been the group of folks that have made up the band and who we wanted to record with. We're dang happy with the results. ... more

about

Good Lord, where to start? We want to thank Central Oregon Creative Artists Relief Effort presented by The Bulletin and Scalehouse for a generous grant we received as a result of the COVID shutdown. Those funds went to the CD. We owe so much thanks to so many folks and even though this trove of tunes has a lot of Colorado in them –we’ve made many friends and fans and worked with so many great folks in Bend and Central Oregon and again so many folks from our time in Colorado it’s overwhelming to try to list everyone- though it is fun to think of it all! We always have thanks for all the amazing community radio stations and DJs locally, nationally and even internationally. KPOV here in Bend is a treasure and we encourage everyone to support Community radio. That’s where you’ll hear us more than anywhere else and of course our long time station in Paonia, Colorado KVNF. Thanks to Jason Chinchen for the Tin Type session (which was a total blast) and graphic work. Jason is one of the most talented people we know. We owe a special thanks to Keith Banning for his skills and tireless efforts on this record, thanks to friends, family, and promoters for everything they have done to help us get to this milestone of making our third full length studio album! We’re thrilled to release it to the world.
